Bridge to Terabithia: Week 22, Short Classics

This week I read Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. This book is about a ten year old boy named Jess Aaron's who is going into fifth grade. All summer he has worked on getting faster and faster to try to be the fastest kid is fifth grade. A couple of days before school starts a family moves in across the street. It is a family made from the parents and an only child and her name is Leslie Burke. Leslie is an interesting kid. She dresses differently and to everyone's surprise she doesn't own a TV even though she is wealthy. When Jess goes to school the boys have there usual races. An unwelcome guest shows up for them and Jess finds out he is the second fastest kid in fifth grade behind Leslie Burke. AFter that rocky start to there friendship Jess and Leslie become best friends and create a magical kingdom in the woods behind her house. They call it Terabithia. They are king and queen and control there magical kingdom. Then it happens. An incident happens that changes Jess's life. Can he overcome it with the support of his friends and family?

This is a well written book and is an extremely quick read. It is only 125 pages long. It's a creative and inspiring and sad story all at the same time. I suggest that everyone reads this. It takes only a couple of hours total to read it. Overall it is a good and fast read.
